DocuMonday presents the film “Senna” on Monday, March 4 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
A British documentary, “Senna” depicts the life and death of Brazilian motor-racing champion, Ayrton Senna. The film charts his achievements on and off the track, his quest for perfection and the mythical status he has attained over the racing legend’s career from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later.
Far more than a film for Formula 1 fans, the cinematic approach makes full use of astounding footage drawn from previously unseen racing archives providing heart stopping thrills and heartbreaking emotion.
Ayrton Senna’s family endorsed this first documentary about his life and helped establish a charitable foundation after his death. The Ayrton Senna Institute, provides educational opportunities to millions of deprived Brazilian children.
Multi-award winner at Sundance, Los Angeles, Melbourne International and Adelaide film festivals and 2 BAFTA awards, Senna was released in 2010, is rated PG-13, and runs for 106 minutes.
There is no admission charge to the film thanks to sponsorship by the Friends of the Peter White Public Library. For more information visit www.pwpl.info or call 226-4318.
