Ishpeming – The Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club will sponsor its 33rd annual gem and mineral show on Saturday, August 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ishpeming Elks Club, 597 Lake Shore Drive, Ishpeming.
Dealers from lower Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and the Upper Peninsula will offer a wide variety of items, including minerals in the rough, lapidary items, rock lampshades, mineral specimens, European jade jewelry, greenstone rings, mining stock certificates and mining money, and much more.
There also will be door prizes, silent auctions, a turquoise display, working demonstrations on faceting and micromounting, a children's area that will allow youths to polish Petoskey stones, and a special mineral display for the visually impaired.A live auction at 7 p.m. will be followed by a program on the Montreal Iron Mine in Montreal, Wisconsin and a raffle drawing. Admission is free.
