Visual Arts
Adult Figure Drawing – Instructor: Jason Limberg. This class will teach and build upon basic drawing principals of drawing from life. Various
mediums will be used to experiment with values, color, line quality, shape, and form. One outside of class project will be assigned and one-on-one critiques
will occur throughout the class with the instructor. Clothed and nude models will be used each class. Instructor has been featured in Juxtapose Magazine.
Wednesdays, November 7 – December 12 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Supply list available at Art Center. City resident: $85. Non-residents $90. Ages 18 and up.
Paper Casting – Instructor: Dan Jarvis. Participants will learn about mold-making and casting, a technique used by ceramicists, glass artists and
mixed media artists around the world. A low-relief tile mold will be made as an introduction and students will then make a mold of a small vessel of their
choice into which paper pulp will be cast. Finished product will be a creative decorating item or functional vessel. Wednesdays, November 7 – December 12
from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. Lab fee: $20. City resident: $30. Non-resident: $35. Ages 18 and up.
Adult Beginning Watercolor – Instructor: Carl Mayer. Explore, experiment, and enjoy watercolor painting with a nationally recognized painter.
Students will learn watercolor techniques and color profiles, and will produce one or two complete paintings! Tuesdays, September 25 – November 6 from
6:30 – 8:30 p.m. No class October 16. Lab fee: $15. City resident: $60. Non-resident: $65. Ages 18 and up.
Top Down Knitted Gloves – Instructor: Dan Jarvis. Participants will knit a custom-fit pair of gloves from the finger tips to the cuff. Students
should be advanced beginners or intermediate level knitters comfortable with casting on, binding off, increasing, and decreasing. Open to all ages.
Required materials are one skein of worsted weight yarn, and one set of #4 or #5 double point needles. Tuesdays, September 25 – October 30 from 6:30 –

Fused Glass Jewelry/Ornaments – Instructor: Beth Cox. Create your own glass jewelry and ornaments while learning the basics of glass
fusing. No glass cutting experience is required. Finished projects make great gifts! Saturday, November 17 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Lab fee: $25. City resident:

T-Shirt Headbands – Instructor: Lanni Lantto. Learn step-by-step how to upcycle your old t-shirt into a new headband. Have a favorite logo or
design on your t-shirts that you want to continue to wear or display? Love cutting up old things and making them brand new? This class is for you! Bring
your own t-shirts; all other supplies provided. Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. City resident: $14. Non-resident: $17. Ages 8 and up.
Redesign Your Wardrobe – Instructor: Lanni Lantto. Do you have a closet full of old clothes or a trunk full of heirlooms in the attic
gathering dust? Is living a green lifestyle important to you but you don’t know how that translates to fashion? This workshop will teach you how to rethink
and redesign everyday objects into wearable, unique and stylish pieces. Be prepared to be inspired and let your creativity run wild. Mondays, October 1 –
October 15 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. City resident: $40. non-resident: $45. Ages 13 and up.
Flower Adventure Book – Instructors: Amber Edmondson and Raja Howe. Make a simple flower press book and fill it with beautiful
flowers to take home. Play with simple writing exercises to explore the color, texture, and scent of flowers. Thursday, September 27 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Creative Kids Movement – Instructor: Maggie Barch. Children will utilize their naturally creative movement ability while exploring new,
interesting ways to move to international music and rhythmic spoken word. Guardian must attend with children. Thursdays, October 4 – November 8 from
3:30 – 4:30 p.m. City resident: $30. Non-resident: $35. Ages 6 – 12.
Belly Dance – Instructor: Maggie Barch. This class will teach the belly dancing basics: arm and hip movements, shimmies, undulations, hip circles
and traveling steps. Dance to the beautiful music of countries like Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, and Lebanon. Get a good workout and have a great time
dancing! Students must wear bare feet, socks or soft-soled dance shoes – tennis shoes are not allowed in this class. Choose from three levels. Session I:
Mondays, September 24 – October 29; Session II: Mondays, November 5 – December 8. Levels for each session: Beginning: 5:45 – 6:45 p.m.; Intermediate:

Music Theory – Instructor: Emily Prychitlso. Participants will learn how to identify intervals and key signatures, write and identify chords, and
learn basic chord progressions. Perfect for a beginning band or orchestra student. Fridays, October 5 – November 15 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. City resident: $35.
Non-resident: $40. Ages 14 and up.
Adult Improvisational Dance – Instructor: Jessie Laisel. Time, date, location yet to be determined. City resident: $30. Non-resident: $35.
Teatre Macabre – Instructor: Maria Formolo. This class offers a unique blend of movement, theatre, and wildly imaginative costuming and
make-up design. Participants will develop individual performance characters and learn to interact with other characters. Open to anyone interested in
movement, costuming and theatre – no experience necessary. Thursdays, September 27 – October 25 from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. Optional Halloween Pageant

Pageantry Puppet Construction – Instructor: Deb White. Participants will build and learn to operate
two larger than life puppets. Building materials include mixed media found objects. Saturdays, September 15 –

Literary arts
Creative Poetry – Instructors: Amber Edmondson and Raja Howe. This series will develop your poetic skills in a safe, creative space. Write a
poem each week with the aid of guiding prompts, and the enjoy the opportunity to share and workshop poetry with fellow writers. Bring a notebook and
writing utensil. Tuesdays, November 13 – December 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. City resident: $60. Non-resident: $65. Ages 16 and up.
Beginning Japanese – Instructor: Ken Satoh. Learn to speak conversational Japanese with a natural-born speaker. Bring a Japanese/English
dictionary and notebook. Saturdays, September 29 – November 3 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Ages 13 – 20. Free! Adult lessons available for a charge.
Anishinaabe Language – Instructors: Sue Smart and Kenn Pitawanakwat. Learn to speak this endangered language while also learning

Writing the Everyday: How to Turn Commonplace Experiences into Memorable Prose – Instructor: Richard Heckler. This class
will focus on using techniques of creative-nonfiction to turn small experiences into an urgent, lyrical memoir. Please bring notebook or laptop. Wednesdays,

to fun and frivolity to your favorite fall fashions. Please bring a pair of new or recycled bring black (or dark color) nylon stockings for project construction.

Felted Acorns – Instructor: Janey Joffee. Felt acorn shapes using a variety of local wool. Colorful nuts will be crowned with forest fresh acorn tops. Individually,
the decorations can be used for pins or strung as a pendant. Make a pair and you will have festive fall earrings! Saturday, October 13 from 1:00 –

Upcycled T-Shirt Necklace – Instructor: Janey Joffee. This stylish cold weather accessory is a cleaver way to repurpose your favorite t-shirt. Please

Pop Art – Instructor: Janey Joffee. Create interesting and expressive jewelry for yourself or to give as gifts. Using the area of the inside of a bottle cap,
these tiny mixed-media collages will create a big-time impression! Consider bringing reduced photos that will fit a 1’’ space to be integrated with other
elements like sequins, buttons, beads, and decorative paper. December 8 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Lab fee: $5. City resident $12. Non-resident: $15.

Tai Chi – Instructor: Jennifer Silverston. Tai Chi, the martial art and healing art of meditation in movement, is good for you! Come relax and enjoy
one hour each week dedicated to relaxing, moving, breathing, and meditating. For advanced practitioners and beginners alike. Come as you are: in this Tai
Chi class, as long as you are smiling and breathing, you are doing it right. Tuesdays, November 13 – December 18 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. City resident: $30.

Shakti Hoop Yoga – Instructor: Jayne Fons Cote. Connect with your inner undulating love while hooping into your shakti energy. Tap into

Beginning Meditation – Instructor: Melissa Middleton. Develop your classic seated meditation practice based on rich and ancient spiritual

and peace to your life! Instructor holds Meditation Instructor certification from the Shambhava School of Yoga and Meditation. Bring a meditation cushion
