Marquette – The DeVos Art Museum will present the exhibt “You Complete Me: Mediating Relationships in Contemporary Art” from Monday, October 1 through Sunday, November 11 at the museum on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
A poetry reading and open mic hosted by poet and “The Grove Behind” author Andrea Scarpino will be held on Thursday, November 8 at 7 p.m. at the museum.
Scarpino is the creative dissertation coordinator at Union Institute and University’s cohort doctorate program in interdisciplinary studies. She will read selections inspired by visual art and a poetry open mic will follow.
“You Complete Me” features works that can be completed only with the involvement of others. This causes the artists and artwork to become mediators, asking the viewer to negotiate their perspective by becoming part of the work.
