Marquette – The DeVos Art Museum will present the exhibt “You Complete Me: Mediating Relationships in Contemporary Art” from Monday, October 1 through Sunday, November 11 at the museum on the campus of Northern Michigan University.
A film screening of “twohundredfiftysixcolors” will be offered on Saturday, October 20 at 2 p.m. at the museum.
The 16mm film is composed of animated gifs curated by Jason Lazarus, whose work is featured in the exhibit, and Eric Fleishauer. Both will discuss the film after the screening.
“You Complete Me” features works that can be completed only with the involvement of others. This causes the artists and artwork to become mediators, asking the viewer to negotiate their perspective by becoming part of the work.
