Enjoy a concert with award winning classical guitarist Peter Fletcher on Sunday, September 23 at 2:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room. As part of his national tour, Fletcher will perform a diverse program of music from four centuries featuring the work of Praetorius, Bach, Myers, Ravel, Grieg, Granados, Lauro, Albéniz and Paganini.
“Fletcher plays it all with a gracious virtuosity that makes for a very pleasing hour plus of unaffected musical poetry.” says Peter Burwasser of Fanfare Magazine.
In demand as a performer and recording artist, Mr. Fletcher has given recitals in New York City, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, El Paso, Pittsburgh, and Greenville, SC. He made his Carnegie Hall debut in 2007, returned in 2008, 2009 and 2010 to a completely sold-out house and is scheduled for a repeat appearance there in early 2013.
Recipient of the Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music under Nicholas Goluses and twice awarded an Eastman Graduate Award, Fletcher also has numerous radio and television appearances to his credit.
Peter Fletcher’s CD recordings have all received critical acclaim. His current release, Peter Fletcher Plays Baroque Music for Guitar was released last fall on the Tower Hill Recordings label. Currently he is working on an all-Grieg album, for which he himself is writing the guitar transcriptions, and is scheduled for release next year. His CD’s will be available for purchase after the concert.
There is no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Carroll Paul Memorial Trust Fund. For more information call the Peter White Public Library at 226-4318 or visit www.pwpl.info.
