Marquette – Shakespeare Readers will meet for a reading of “Hamlet” on Wednesday, September 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library.
One of Shakespeares most powerful tragedies, the play revolves around the revenge Hamlet exacts on his uncle Claudius for murdering the King, Claudius’s brother and Hamlet’s father. Claudius then succeeds to the throne and takes as his wife Gertrude, the old king’s widow and Hamlet’s mother. The play is a vivid portrayal of both true and feigned madness and explores themes of treachery, revenge and moral corruption.
Shakespeare Readers is a group for anyone who is intrigued with reading the works of William Shakespeare. They meet on the first Wednesday of each month at the library and new members are always welcome.
