Marquette – The 3rd Annual Blueberry Pie contest will be held on Saturday, July 28 at the Marquette Commons during the Farmers Market.
All components of the pie must be homemade, and contestants must be willing to share the pie and their recipe with the public. There will be two categories for judging, traditional pies and other blueberry desserts, with a grand prize for best overall. After the winners are announced the community is invited to taste the pies together.
Check-in for the pie contest begins at 10:30 a.m. with judging starting at 11 a,m. During the judging, contestants and the public are free to enjoy the Farmers Market, and a free pie making demo by the Marquette Food Co-op at the Market information booth. Entering the pie contest and the pie making demonstration are both free to everyone.
Amateur bakers only. All pies must have a serving utensil to accompany it. Preregistration for the contest is required. If you are interested in participating in the pie contest , or have questions about it, contact Market Administrator Sarah Monte at 225-0671 ext. 23.
The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market is sponsored by The Marquette Downtown Development Authority. The market runs rain or shine every Saturday from 9am-2pm until October 27.
