Calumet – PastyFest 2012 will be held on Saturday, June 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Calumet
The event is designed to pay tribute the Cornish import that became an Upper Peninsula staple – the pasty, and is sponsored by the nonprofit organization Main Street Calumet.
The Great Pasty Chase 5K Fun Walk/Run begins at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of 5th and Portland Streets. Registration is $10, with the proceeds going to the Calumet Wolverines Hockey Club and Main Street Calumet.
The PastyFest Parade will start at 11 a.m. on 5th Street, followed by the Horseshoe Partners Tournament in Agassiz Park.
Throughout the day in Agassiz Park there will be food, vendors, games, free horse-drawn carriage rides, music, and a pasty bake-off. The bake-off judging will begin at 1 p.m. and winners will be announced at 4 p.m.
