Marquette – The Bluesday Tuesday series will present a film exploration of the musical roots of Delta blues music on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.
Musician Corey Harris travels through Mississippi and on to West Africa, exploring the roots of the music. The 90 minute film celebrates the early Delta bluesmen through original performances and rare archival footage. In addition to Harris, performers include John Lee Hooker, Son House, Salif Keita, Habib Koité, Taj Mahal, Ali Farka Toure, Otha Turner, Muddy Waters, Keb’ Mo’, Willie King and Lead Belly.
There is no admission charge to attend the event which is co-sponsored by the Marquette Area Blues Society and the Friends of the Peter White Public Library.
