Marquette – Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Michigan Wilderness Act by skiing the McCormick Tract with the C.U.P. Chapter of the Sierra Club on Saturday, February 25 beginning at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on M-28 in Harvey.
The McCormick Tract is one of the areas designated as wilderness when the act was passed. Starting on the west side of the wilderness area near the Peshekee River, the group will ski towards Deer Lake, and then select other lakes as destinations depending on conditions and the ambition of the group.
Trails are not groomed and much of the trip will be off-trail so backcountry ski gear is recommended. Bring a trail lunch.
For more information, call John Rebers at 228-3617 to sign up for the trip and to confirm final plans as the destination may change depending on conditions.
