Ishpeming – A “Have the Heart to Save a Heart” fundraiser for Griffin Helsten will be held on Saturday, February 25 from 2 to 8 p.m.at the Ishpeming Armory.
A spaghetti dinner will be served from 2 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.
There will be music and activities from 6 to 8 p.m. Activities will include a raffle and 50/50 drawing, as well as a bounce house, face painting, ring toss and a duck pond. A magician will be on hand to entertain.
Griffin is a fourth-grader at Aspen Ridge Elementary School and was recently diagnosed with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy, or ARVC. Twenty percent of children with this condition require a transplant within the first year of diagnosis. Griffin is on the transplant list.
Proceeds from the event will help his family with expenses related to his treatment. Donations are being accepted at the Peninsula Bank, 170 N. Daisy Street, Ishpeming, under Griffin Helsten’s Healing Heart Fund.
