Marquette – Dr. Jonathan Allen will offer a six week class on Political Corruption and Scandals on Thursdays at 7 p.m. beginning on October 13 in the Shiras Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
There is no charge to attend the class which runs through November 17 and no registration is required.
This course will examine what several of the greatest Western political philosophers, such as Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Rousseau, and Marx, have had to say about this issue, and the relevance of their views to current politics. The concept of political corruption will serve as the entry-point into the broader theories of politics.
Jonathan Allen is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Northern Michigan University teaching in the Honors Program. He has been at NMU since 2008 after earning his PhD from Princeton University. Dr. Allen has also studied in Montreal, Canada and Johannesburg, South Africa.
