Hancock – Copper Country League of Women Voters will present the National Popular Vote Initiative on Wednesday, October 22 at 11:45 a.m. at the Finlandia Portage Campus Conference Room.
An interstate compact is gradually being introduced and adopted in states across the nation and would change the way the President of the United States is elected. The electoral college would no longer determine the winner but rather a majority of the voters nation wide would result the winner. While this initiative will not be in effect for the November 2008 election, it could potentially be adopted by the time of the 2012 election.
The forum is free and open to the public. Lunch may be purchased on site.
