Media are welcome to attend the following events being held at Northern Michigan University this week:
▪NMU President Les Wong will deliver his annual fall convocation at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in room 102 Jamrich Hall.
▪NMU will hold its notebook computer distribution Thursday and Friday, Aug. 25-26 at the Superior Dome. About 5,900 computers will change hands, with 3,300 new computers being issued and 2,600 being turned in as “end-of-lease” models. NMU has been replacing computers on a two-year cycle since the program started. Beginning with this year’s model, the university is moving to a three-year replacement cycle as a cost-saving measure.
▪Welcome Weekend activities for new and returning NMU students will be held Thursday, Aug. 25 through Monday, Aug. 29—the first day of fall classes. A full schedule is available at www.nmu.edu/welcomeweekend. Fall Fest runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday on the academic mall.
