Ishpeming – Wilho Saari will present a kantele concert on Sunday, August 28 at 7 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, 333 E. Ridge Street, Ishpeming.
Saari is the 2011 Finlandia Foundation Performer of the Year. He traces the tradition of kantele playing in his family back five generations. His great-great-grandmother, Kreeta Haapasalo, was one of Finland’s notable kantele matriarchs.
Saari’s CDs will be available for purchase at the concert. A free-will offering will be accepted, and coffee and bars will be served after the performance. For more information, call 226-7985.
