Big Bay – Liberty Children’s Art Project will offer Summer Art Camp for children 6 years old and up Monday, August 15 through Friday, August 19 at the Powell Township School Outdoor Studio, 101 Deutsch Street in Big Bay.
A morning session from 10:30 to 11:45 for children grades 1 through 6 will feature “The Big Top Circus Creations” inspired by artist Alexander Calder, circus creations in painting, printmaking and clay.
An afternoon session from 1 to 2:30 for older students grades 6 through 12 will feature “Clay Workshops.” Learn to throw pots on the Potter’s Wheel as well as create sculpture with clay, recycled materials and hot glue. Free clay will be offered for younger students who want to return in the afternoon.
Students are welcome to come to some or all days. The classes are free of charge to Powell Township children but open to all children in the UP. Class fees are $20 for the week or $5 per day, thanks to the generous support of the Marquette County Community Foundation, Lake Superior Art Association, and Liberty Children’s Art Project.
