In the Superior Dome today the best graduating seniors of the Upper Peninsula in football came together to play in the U.P. Football All-Star Game. Split geographically from the location of their specific school location. The teams were East and West.
The teams stayed within each other through out the first half with not much ball movement. With 3:05 left in the second quarter the West struck first to get a lead 7-0. The East struck right back with a 80 yard touchdown pass to tie 7-7. The East then found the end zone right away with an 11 yard pass to go up 14-7 at half.
The second half stayed that way until the beginning of the fourth quarter when the East punched in another touchdown to go up 21-7. The next drive off of a turnover for the East led to another quick touchdown to go up 28-7. With 7:24 left in the fourth the West side started for a comeback to make it 28-14. The East then completed another drive but missed the extra to be behind only by one point 21-20. The East were able to get another touchdown for insurance and able to hold on for the win.
Next football season starts in August for all local teams. All Negaunee, Ishpeming, Westwood, Manistique, and Munising football will be covered right here.
