Marquette – “Heroes Ahoy: Pirate Party” will be held on Saturday, June 25 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Westwood Mall in Marquette.
Mall employees and members of the public will be encouraged to make a $5 donation to the Marquette Township Fire Department. Donors will receive a hot dog lunch and an “official” pirate bandana. Mall employees are encouraged to dress as much like a pirate as their store dress codes allow, with costume prizes being awarded.
Members of the fire department will be on hand with equipment displays, safety information and more, including rides for the kids on the department’s antique fire vehicle. Other activities will include a dunk tank and the chance to win prizes, including home carbon monoxide detectors.
Proceeds from the event will assist the Marquette Township Fire Department with the purchase a of a carbon monoxide blood monitor. For more information, call the mall office at 228-4860 or Fire Marshall Ron DeMarse at 228-4296.
