Calendar – Theater – Afternoon Classic Film Series – June 6

Marquette – The Afternoon Classic Films will present a screening of “Stalag 17” on Monday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

This film is the story of a group of American WWII POW’s imprisoned in Germany who have tried to escape several times. When they are repeatedly caught, they begin to suspect a spy is among them. An unscrupulous inside dealer named Sefton, played by William Holden, is suspected and when he is unjustifiably named and beaten up, he decides to find the real spy himself. The film also stars Otto Preminger and Peter Graves. Holden won the Best Actor Academy Award for his role in this film.

Released in 1953, “Stalag 17” is shown in black and white and runs for 120 minutes.
