Marquette – Dog loving children of all ages are invited to “For the Love of Dogs” on Tuesday, February 8 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Peter White Public Library.
Children’s author, Connie Sather, will read from her new book, “Sadie Wins the Race?” The book’s illustrator, Taylor Knetter, will also be on hand to draw with the children after the story.
Musher, David Gill, will talk about the art of dog sled racing. Meet the musher and one of his dogs for a close up look at a real dogsled. Gill, who is also a musician, will share a song about his love of racing.
Members of the Delta Society Pet Partners will be there too, along with their reading dogs. Learn about the program that helps young people improve their reading skills; meet the dogs and their human care givers.
Light refreshments will be served while youth have a chance to work on dog related craft activities and adults can meet the author for a book sale and signing opportunity.
The event, which is part of the library’s Midwinter Storytelling Festival, is open to the public at no admission charge thanks to sponsorship by the Marquette Alger Reading Council, Allyn Roberts in memory of Forest Roberts and the Peter White Public Library.
