According to the Senator, the speech was a strong call end partisan bickering in Washington and to get to work solving the economic and energy issues facing this country. Yet, in virtually the same breath, the Senator attacked Republican strategies that would only cause further financial consternation for working-class Americans and placed the blame for the current economic situation on the G-O-P.
