Marquette – Mary Doria Russell, author of “The Sparrow,” the 2010 One Book, One Community selection, will speak on Tuesday, October 26 at 7 p.m. in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center at Northern Michigan University.
Admission is free for NMU students with I.D. and $2 for the general public.
Russell’s debut novel, a story about Earth’s first contact with an extraterrestrial civilization, centers on a Jesuit mission to another planet. Russell put her doctorate in biological anthropology to effective use creating worlds, species and societies that are believable and shocking.
