Calendar – Education – Prime Time Family Reading Begins – Sept. 25

Marquette – Prime Time Family Reading, a family literacy program focusing on reading, discussion and storytelling, will begin on Saturday, September 25 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.

The program is for non library users to help parents and children become enthusiastic readers. Featuring award-winning children’s literature, the program stimulates discussion about issues encountered in everyday life, such as fairness, courage, identity, and community.

Prime Time Family Reading Time runs for six weeks and is designed for families with children ages 6 to 10. Each session includes reading two books with a storyteller, followed by discussion with an educational scholar. At the same time, there are pre-reading activities for preschool siblings ages 3 to 5.

Prime Time offers participants a nutritious lunch and opportunities to learn about library resources. All families will be offered library cards. The program is free to families in the library’s service area, and transportation is available for those in need. Prime Time sessions will be held Saturday mornings from September 25 to October 30 at the library.

For more information about this family literacy program, visit www.pwpl.info or call the library at 226-4318.
