Marquette – The Marquette Food Co-op Book Club will meet on Thursday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in the co-op conference room.
The group will discuss “Organic Inc.” which is required reading for anyone who buys organic products. Primarily focusing on the development of organic food from its earliest theories to its most successful companies today, it follows the struggle of a movement that has tried to become big by emphasizing small.
The book also shares interesting stories about co-op distributors (United Natural Foods and Co-op Partners), the origins of breakfast cereal and bagged lettuce, and the unusual characters who have shaped what “organic” means today.
