Ishpeming – Author and Ishpeming native Dan Oja will discuss his book “Ordinary Heroes: Six Stars in the Window,” on Sunday, September 20 at 2 p.m. in the children's room of the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library.
The Friends of the Library are sponsoring this free program, which will be followed by light refreshments.
The book's title refers to the flag with six stars that hung in the Koski family's window, one for each brother in the service. The book relates the experiences of the brothers, and also provides information about World War II.
Oja will discuss the research behind the book and development of a documentary video. He will also demonstrate and explain the features of the multimedia, digital version of the book, including links to Web sites and source documents, as well as video clips from newsreels and interviews with family members and veterans.
