Upper Peninsula – American Legion Auxiliary volunteers from the 39 units in the Upper Peninsula will distribute the familiar red, handcrafted poppies honoring America’s war dead, Thursday, May 13 through Saturday, May 15 throughout the U.P.
Each poppy has been painstakingly made by veterans at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette as a supplement to their physical therapy program. They are paid a small amount for each poppy, and for some, it is their only source of income.
All proceeds from the Poppy Days will go to programs for the rehabilitation and welfare of needy veterans and their families.
Wear your poppy proudly and honor every American who has died for the American ideals of freedom, justice and equality.
