Compensation: Based on experience;  moderate base salary + generous bonus plan based on success and results.

Description:

Great Lakes Radio, Inc. is seeking a General Station Manager for WFXD, 103.3 FM.   The successful candidate must be able to direct a team that successfully integrates into the Great Lakes Radio, Inc. family while bringing the station to #1 in market before Year’s end.

By September 11, 2010, the successful candidate will raise new revenue to at least 29% above current or last year mark, whichever is greater.    Thereafter, the successful candidate must continually increase both revenue and profit while keeping the station ranked #1 in its market.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented but have a solid grasp of the big picture.  They infuse teamwork into their staff and inspire through effective positive leadership.

They will bring good programming and marketing plans that deliver increasingly profitable product of community radio and modern country through a 100,000 watt powerhouse.  They must not only make take the station to #1 in market, but they will make the station #1 for agency and local sponsorship support as well.

The successful candidate gets bottom line results through intense work and applying the solid fundamentals of  radio marketing while simultaneously increasing NTR and e commerce success.

The successful candidate will solve problems within resource constraints allocated and go beyond mere problem solving by creating increasingly popular programming that attracts a growing listenership and maintains long-term sponsorship.

Requirements:

Excellent staff and community relations experience.  Successful experience as a Station Manager and Sales Manager.   Ability to creatively maximize opportunities to create bottom line results.  Honest to a fault.

Excellent understanding and adherence to labor laws, administrative duties, FCC regulations, maintenance of Public File,  and ability to keep priorities in top-of-mind awareness of staff, sponsors, and community.

Additional Requirements

Comfort and confidence in establishing community connections, maintaining community and business relationships, completing details according to company policies designed to satisfy clients and community with timely, professional, and creative results.

Professional participation in company practices and policies reviews to standardize good practices across all station in the Great Lakes Radio, Inc.  Ability to closely adhere to established practices and policies and contribute insights to improving practices and policies.

Proficiency with basic computer skills including but not limited to: e-mail and webmail, phone, fax machine, Microsoft Office or OpenOffice.org (Great Lakes Radio, Inc. uses open-source Office clone).  Ability to learn new tools with ease and effectively use such tools in any and all promotional and marketing plans.

Ability to select qualified candidates to best serve in future open employment positions with eye toward excellence and efficiency.

The ability to multi-task while incorporating best practices to understand community sponsors, station listeners, and station demographic . Ability to listen and accurately communicate, file required reports (corporate and FCC), and keep all station operations legal while staying within budget boundaries.

Ability to be trained quickly and learn to creatively apply learning to the needs of company a must, including but not limited to producing on-air commercial spots, promotional materials, and doing event management and/or on-air tasks, and other tasks as requested management from time-to-time.

Excellent communication skills, pleasant public presentation, creative insights preferred.

Ability make target goals while staying within resource limits allocated is an absolute must.
