A Protect the Earth Great Lakes community gathering will be held Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2 in Marquette.
On Saturday, workshops and presentations will be held from noon to 4 p.m. in the New Science Facility at Northern Michigan University.
An Anishinaabe dance, music, and a movie demo of “Yoopers vs. Giant Mining Corporations” will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Locations will be announced at the workshops.
Sunday activities include a walk to Eagle Rock at 10:30 a.m. Meet at the Clowry Trail for a two-mile walk, follow the signs from County Road 510.
Lunch, speakers and a ceremony at Eagle Rock will be held from noon to 2 p.m.
From 2 to 4 p.m. will be a tribute and ceremony to Fred Rydholm, legendary area historian and storyteller.
