53 Riders from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin converged on Marquette, Michigan for North State BMX's Michigan State Championship Finals on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at River Park Sports Complex.
7 members (2 girls and 5 boys) of Team Koth Oil Company came over from Rhinelander, Wisconsin to compete against some of the best riders from North State BMX. A few of them took first places but none of them were eligible for the title of State Champion since their home track was in Wisconsin.
Several North State BMX riders repeated as State Champions, some in dual classes and several new champions were crowned.
The ABA BMX Michigan State Champions for 2008-2009 are as follows: 9 year-old Cruiser: Gardner Bess, 14 year-old Cruiser: Trevor Rochefort, 15 year-old Cruiser: Michael Noble, 31 year-old Cruiser: Jon Spencer, 41 year-old Cruiser: Jerry Pirkle Jr., 8 year-old Girls: Anne Pirkle, 11 year-old Girls: Mikayla Lehtomaki, 14 year-old Girls: Tessa Daugherty, 15 year-old Girls: Megan Noble, 16 year-old Girls: Dahli Bates, 17 year-old Girls: Lindsey Noble, 5 year-old Boys: Erik Johnson, 6 year-old Boys: Korbin Lawry, 7 year-old Boys: Keenan Johnson, 8 year-old Boys: Gardner Bess, 9 year-old Boys: Alex Niemi, 10 year-old Boys: Gage Nutt, 11 year-old Boys: Dylan Bartol, 12 year-old Boys: Alec Spencer, 14 year-old Boys: Trevor Rochefort, 15 year-old Boys: Josh Bullock, 17 year-old Boys: Michael Grange.
