Michigan Tech has partnered with Michigan State University and the Mascoma Corporation to produce Michigan's first Center of Energy Excellence. The center will be a commercial cellulosic ethanol plant located in Chippewa County, south of Sault Ste. Marie. Cellulosic ethanol offers a clean-burning and economical alternative to petroleum-based fuel and ethanol made from corn. David Reed, Michigan Tech's Vice President of Research, talks about the fuel.
