Negaunee City Fire Department Incident Press Release

What: Brush Fire
When: October 5th, 2025 @ 18:48 hrs
Where: Rolling Mill Rd. / Miller Rd.

Description of Events:
At approximately 18:48 hrs the Negaunee City Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a brush fire on Rolling Mill Rd. near Miller Rd. Upon arriving on scene, crews were able to locate a brush fire in the cattails of a swamp on the south side of Rolling Mill Rd, just west of Miller Rd. An area the approximate size of half of a football field had caught on fire and burnt, with some small pockets of fire left over. Crews were able to extinguish the fire, using water that was transported by truck as well as water that was drafted from a nearby creek.

The Negaunee City Fire Department would like to remind the community that with the recent warm temperatures, strong winds, and lack of significant rainfall, there is still a potential for brush fires in the U.P. The Negaunee City Fire Department would like to thank Marquette County Central Dispatch for their assistance.
