NEWBERRY, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing about $1.5 million to repair and rebuild two bridges on US-41 over the West Branch of Whitefish River and Huber Creek in Alger County. The projects will include superstructure replacement, end header replacement, deck patching, substructure repair, and approach work.

Traffic restrictions:
US-41 traffic will be detoured via M-67 and M-94 during work on the West Branch of the Whitefish River bridge. This detour is scheduled to end by August 15. One alternating lane for local traffic only will be open on US-41 during work on the Huber Creek bridge. Officials recommend taking M-553 and M-35 if you wish to avoid the detour when traveling between Marquette and Gladstone.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 14 jobs.
