Ishpeming, MI — Partridge Creek Farm (PCF) is thrilled to announce a major revitalization of their Community Garden, located at 301 E Euclid St in downtown Ishpeming. Community members are invited to roll up their sleeves and pitch in during a volunteer workday on Saturday, May 17, from 9 AM to 5 PM. No registration is required, and volunteers are welcome to come and go as they please throughout the day.
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a first-time volunteer, everyone is welcome to contribute—whether for an hour or the entire day. Just bring your work gloves, a water bottle, and please wear closed toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Partridge Creek Farm will provide lunch. More information about this volunteer day can be found at PartridgeCreekFarm.org/events.
During the workday, volunteers will take part in a range of hands-on projects aimed at repairing and upgrading the garden. Activities will include constructing new pathways and raised garden beds, planting orchard trees, and overhauling the compost area to enhance sustainability efforts. Volunteers will also help paint garden beds, perform light carpentry work, and tackle weeding and general garden maintenance to prepare the site for the growing season.
The Community Garden, Partridge Creek Farm’s first site, serves as a vital gathering space for seasonal garden bed rentals. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the local community, PCF raised $10,850 during its 2024 Giving Tuesday campaign, more than doubling the initial $5,000 goal. These funds enabled the purchase of the site and will support critical repairs and upgrades during the upcoming volunteer day. The revitalization will benefit the 24 Community Garden Members who utilize this site to grow fresh, healthy food for themselves and their families.
Partridge Creek Farm Community Food Access Manager, Danielle Sidor describes the importance of this site. “This garden is more than just a place to grow vegetables. It’s a shared space that strengthens our community, supports food sovereignty, and encourages sustainable living. We’re excited to breathe new life into it, and we invite our neighbors to join us in the transformation.”
Partridge Creek Farm looks forward to welcoming volunteers on May 17th. Please note that while PCF typically encourages participation from volunteers of all ages, the nature of this event involves a level of physical activity and independence that makes it best suited for individuals aged 16 and older.
No prior registration is required. To learn more about the event, visit PartridgeCreekFarm.org/events.
