Orange Shirt Day Sept. 30 at NMU

The Native American Student Association (NASA) at Northern Michigan University will participate in Orange Shirt Day on Friday, Sept. 30, to recognize the thousands of Indigenous children who were forced into the Indian Boarding/Residential School System in the United States and Canada.

As part of the event, NASA invites members of the campus and Marquette-area communities to gather  as 12:30 p.m. at the NMU Center for Native American Studies’ fire site outside Whitman Hall.

Orange Shirt Day follows last Sunday’s installation of 5,000 orange flags on the academic mall, which kicked off awareness activities on campus. See a related story here.
