Marquette, MI – September 18, 2022 – Connect Marquette has adopted a 2.5 mile section of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail – from the LS&I Overpass in Marquette Township to the M35/CR 492 intersection in Negaunee Township, and it’s time for their first semi-annual cleanup! They’ll meet at the Eagle Mills trailhead at the intersection of M-35 & 492, and half of the group will be shuttled over to the other end. Please bring hand tools, gloves, etc. if you have them (while not required, it would be helpful). From 1-3pm they’ll be picking up trash & debris, trimming around signs and benches, and trimming overhead branches hanging into the trail. They’ll meet in the middle and head back to the trailhead where Connect Marquette will provide a tailgate pizza late lunch.
Please register by September 14th if you would like an IOHT shirt, and by September 16th otherwise.
Afterwards, all participants are invited to join CM at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum just down the road for the world premiere of “The Iron Town”, a documentary written by Connect Marquette board member, Dan Korhonen, and directed by The Yonder Studio, as well as “Snow Problem for a Yooper”, a short film written & directed by Dan Korhonen. Run times for the films are 20 minutes & 14 minutes.
Locations: IOHT Eagle Mills trailhead @ SW Corner of 492/M-35 intersection (Negaunee Township)
