Whether you need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be more active to improve your overall health, Upper Peninsula Commission for Area Progress (UPCAP) is partnering with the Escanaba Northern Lights YMCA to offer the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease program. This is a self-guided walking program with online class support to help participants stay motivated and build confidence, while learning to safely increase physical activity.
The six-week online course is designed with older adults in mind, but participants of all ages can benefit from walking. If you can be on your feet for 10 minutes without increased pain, you can have success with Walk With Ease.
Online classes will be held on Mondays, 11 am – 12 pm EST, June 13 through July 25 (we will be skipping class on Monday, July 4). Participants also have the option to attend a Zoom virtual platform orientation on Monday, June 6 at 2 pm EST. The orientation is designed to prepare participants to attend the classes virtually. Our partners at the Northern Lights YMCA will be offering a group walking session 1 time per week on Tuesdays, 9 am EST, June 14 through July 26. To register, visit www.upcap.org or call 2-1-1 Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm EST, for assistance.
There is no charge for this online class. You must have a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet connection, microphone, webcam and email address, to participate.
Class size is limited. Registration is required by Sunday, June 5.
