The past year was the first since the 1970's in which the County Board managed directly Marquette County's senior services. The Commission on Aging was replaced by the commissioners acting as the pass-through agency to get funding and give direction to the four area senior centers in Gwinn, Marquette, Negaunee and Ishpeming. This Tuesday the County Board will discuss those services at their Regular Meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Skewis Annex of the courthouse. Commissioner Bruce Heikkala, who sat on the COA and continues to work with the senior centers discusses that agenda item on this UP to the Minute Report with Pete Mackin.
