Ishpeming – A Safe Routes 2 School discussion will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Birchview Elementary School in Ishpeming.
Safe Routes to school is an exciting initiative that has been happening at Birchview Elementary in Ishpeming, Lakeview Elementary in Negaunee and Gilbert Elementary in Gwinn.
The goal of Safe Routes to School is to remove the barriers that prevent school children from walking or biking to school by creating safe, walk-able routes to school.
Dr. Warren Rauhe of MSU Extension and his team have been creating ideas for potential infrastructure changes and improvements that would make communities more walk-able. Community members are invited to this discussion to hear about the ideas and give more input.
