NMU Alumni Association presents “Lifelong Learning: Exploring the right education at the right time” February 10, 2021

The Northern Michigan University Alumni Association is presenting a panel discussion at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, titled “Lifelong Learning: Exploring the right education at the right time” as part of its Northern Now digital event series for alumni and friends. The discussion will feature Extended Learning staff and Global Campus students and alumni.

“Lifelong learning is a very personal experience, and educational opportunities come in many forms,” said NMU Director of Global Campus Operations Brad Hamel (BS ’99, MPA ’14, Ed.S. ’19), a panelist for the event. “There are opportunities for those who like to learn for fun and other opportunities for those who need or want to make a career change. Figuring out what is right for you can be a challenge. As the world evolves, higher education is trying to adapt and fill the needs of changing demographics, as well as learners’ needs. We hope this discussion will give everyone a starting point or new perspective on how learners of any type can fulfill their goals.”

Other panelists include NMU Director of Continuing Education and Workforce Development Stephanie Zadroga-Langlois (BA ’96, MA ’98) and former Global Campus student and young emerging executive with S&P Global Morgan Waller (BS ’16, MPA ’18).

Each with different perspectives on the topic, the panelists will share their experiences and discuss “The 60-Year Curriculum,” a book NMU’s Global Campus program is modeling their division strategic plan after. Global Campus Assistant Director Carly Harrington (MPA ’11) will moderate the event and take audience questions live.

Taking place on the second Wednesday of each month, the Northern Now series provides a behind-the-scenes look at NMU students, departments, athletics and more on campus with exclusive tours, interviews and interactive events. Learn more here.
