Marquette, MI – The Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 316 Pine Street, (The Pine Ridge Apartment Building). The first arriving engine crew reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the North half of the roof of building. The first arriving officer on scene immediately called for a 3rd alarm to be struck to request additional Marquette City fire personnel to respond to the scene. A request was also made to have the Marquette Township Fire Department, and the Chocolay Township Fire Departments respond to the scene as well. Firefighters went to the roof of the building and encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions. The fire was brought under control approximately 1 hour after suppression efforts began. The entire building was evacuated and all residents were moved to temporary housing.
The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Marquette Police Department, The Marquette Township Fire Department, The Chocolay Township Fire Department, The Marquette County Sheriffs Department, NMU Public Safety, Semco Gas Company, UP Health Systems Ambulance Crews, and the Marquette Board of Light and Power. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
