Hope Starts Here Concert May 6

Marquette – The Marquette Senior High School Bands will present a very special spring concert entitled “Hope Starts Here” on Wednesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. in Kaufman Auditorium.

The concert will feature two premieres, and other notable works by local composers.

The first premiere is a march entitled “Hope Starts Here” by Marquette native Eino Olander. The Upper Peninsula Brain Tumor Center, in conjunction with their “Hope Starts Here” Cycling Challenge, has commissioned Mr. Olander to write a march in honor of the riding event, and the MSHS Bands will be performing it for the first time at this concert.

The second premier is a piece entitled “The Tales of Welland Lake” by MSHS Band member and Bassoonist, Alex Flannery.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and $12 for a family.

The MSHS 9th Grade Combined Concert Band, Combined Symphony Band, Wind Symphony and Jazz Bands are also scheduled to perform. For more information, call Matt Ludwig at 225-5382.
