Marquette, MI – April 28th marks the 120th anniversary of Northern Michigan University, which first opened in 1899 as Northern State Normal. A suggested interview contact for a potential story on the anniversary is Russell Magnaghi, NMU historian and professor emeritus. He can discuss the origins, with the first classes held at old City Hall, etc., as well as his recent efforts to update his encyclopedia of NMU and make it available online for public access.
