‘Rock Star’ Climber Lynn Hill Gives Talk at NMU March 19th

Marquette, MI – Rock climber Lynn Hill, one of only two people in the world to succeed in making an all free, one-day ascent of The Nose on El Capitan in Yosemite Valley, will give a presentation at Northern Michigan University. The event begins at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 19th, in 1100 Jamrich Hall. Admission is free for NMU students and $2 for the general public.

Hill was the first to complete an all free ascent of The Nose with a 1994 effort. She had first discovered competition climbing during a visit to France in 1986. Hill quickly moved into the top ranks, winning more than 30 international competitions, including five victories at the Arco Rock Master, the Wimbledon of competitive climbing.

This event is sponsored by Platform Personalities, the Organization for Outdoor Recreation Professionals, and the Student Finance Committee.
