Marquette, MI – A free audition and acting workshop for youth ages 10-18, led by Tegan Sturmer and Dr. David Wood, for Superior Arts Youth Theater’s upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It will be offered on Sunday, February 24, 2019, 6-8 pm, at the Marquette Hope Connection Center. The workshop will include an overview of the plot and characters, tips on how to prepare for the audition, and an introduction to Shakespearean English.
An abridged production of As You Like It, directed by Sturmer, will be part of SAYT’s 2019 Play Festival this spring. As You Like It follows the story of Rosalind and her cousin Celia as they flee to the Forest of Arden.
The workshop will include acting and improvisation games, plot explanation, character analysis, Shakespearean English exercises, and scene readings. Participants will receive take-home audition materials and are encouraged to come to the workshop with questions regarding plot, characters, and audition preparation.
