Invasive Weed Awareness Workshops will be offered to educate participants about the Upper Peninsula Invasives Council (UPIC) invasive species identification and prevention, volunteer opportunities, and native plant restoration. Invasive species are non-native to the ecosystem under consideration and whose introduction often results in harm to humans and/or ecosystems. Additionally, invasive species often take significant resources to remove, and restoration of impacted areas is often difficult. However, we can make a difference through education and on-the-ground action. Workshops will be offered on February 24, 10 to 11 a.m. Marquette Interagency Conservation Center, 1030 Wright Street, Marquette and on March 24, 10 to 11 a.m. Hiawatha National Forest, Munising District Office, 400 E. Munising Ave., Munising. Contact Danielle Dalgord at The Nature Conservancy at 225-0399 or Deb LeBlanc at the Hiawatha National Forest office at 387-2512 to register.
