Grand Marais Triathlon – September 2

Grand Marais, MI – Contestants will begin with a 200-yard swim in Grand Marais Bay. The swim float line will be moved out into approximately six feet of water depth and wading will be almost impossible. A noodle flotation aid will be allowed to aid the adult swimmers, however, they must start one minute after the last swimmer has left the beach to begin their swim in each class, men or women. For those that are unfamiliar, the bay is open to Lake Superior and the warmest it gets is Labor Day Weekend. The swim will definitely wake you up for the start of the race!

Next is a 13.6 mile bike race through the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, west of town on a newly paved asphalt road passing by waterfalls and Grand Sable Lake in the shadow of the Grand Sable Dunes; remember, this is a race so don’t let the scenery slow you down!… Read the rest

Off the Vine 5k Run/Walk and 1 mile Vineyard Stroll – August 25

Bark River, MI – The Off the Vine Run/Walk takes place on August 25, 2018 at 4:00pm Eastern. It is a mixed terrain course consisting of dirt track, paved road, and Northern Sun Winery Vineyard, Bark River, MI. Appetizers served after event to all participants. St.Mary’s Catholic School 4th Annual Proverbial Run/Walk 5K – August 18

Sault Ste. Marie, MI – This race will take you past some of the most historic sites Sault Ste Marie has to offer. We begin the race in front of St. Mary’s School in the shadow of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and the Tower of History. We run through Historic Downtown Sault Ste Marie and finish behind St. Mary’s School.

Registration and Packet Pick-up Information:

  • Early Registration fees are $12 per person. Early registration closes Friday, August 17, 2018 at 8 AM.Day of Run Registration fees are $15 per person
  • All race registrations include a T-Shirt.
  • Race numbers and shirts can be picked up from 4 PM to 6 PM Friday, August 17th or at 8 AM August 18th.
  • A family of 4 or more will receive a discount of $2 per person.

Marquette Trail 50 UltraMarathon – August 17-18

Marquette, MI – The course is mostly single-track, climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the-World, Bareback, and Hogback.

Much of the trail consists of moderate to difficult terrain, with significant climbs and technical areas.  According to Ultrarunning Magazine, the course is rated 3 out of 5 for Terrain (“Hilly”), and 4 out of 5 for Surface (“Trail with substantial rocks, roots and/or ruts”).

On Friday evening, we will also host a competitive 5K before the popular-must-watch children’s races 1M and 5K with special awards and shirts.  Friday races follow the North Country Trail.  The format is out-and-back.  This section of the trail is part of the “big loop” for the 50K and 50M.  Racers will enjoy single-track trails with short ascents and descents, along with technical areas with lots of rocks and roots.… Read the rest

Ore to Shore – August 11

Marquette, MI -The 2018 Ore to Shore bike race is coming up, and there are various different races for riders of all skill levels.  The classifications are listed below, along with a brief description of each.

Hard Rock Race: The course traverses some of the most scenic terrain available in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The 48 mile race starts in downtown Negaunee, which is the “birthplace” of iron ore in Michigan.

Soft Rock: Like its HARD ROCK counterpart, the 28 mile SOFT ROCK covers some very scenic terrain. Starting at the shores of Negaunee’s tranquil Teal Lake, you will immediately begin your journey to Marquette.

Shore Rock: The Shore Rock offers an entry-level distance for the rider looking to try mountain bike racing, or for kids wanting to expand beyond the Junior Rock.

Junior Rock: The Junior Rock race is a 4 mile loop on a dirt trail starting at Lakeview Arena for those ages 16 and under.… Read the rest

2018 US NATIONAL GUTS FRISBEE TOURNAMENT – August 4-5

Marquette, MI – Guts Frisbee is a fantastic fan friendly sport. The 2018 U.S. National Tournament will feature 16-20 teams from throughout the country competing for the Craig “Buck” Buchanan Memorial Trophy. Tourist Park is an ideal venue for spectators to see Frisbees thrown at over 80mph from 15 meters away as the other team tries to catch the sizzling throw with one hand…. Fort Wilkins Historic State Park – Aspirus Copperman Triathlon and Duathlon – August 5

Copper Harbor, MI – The Copperman Triathlon includes a half mile swim in Lake Fanny Hooe, a 23-mile bike along the shores of Lake Superior and a five mile run at the tip of the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula. The Copperman Duathlon starts with a 6K run instead of the swim. The race will then continue with the 23-mile bike and the five mile run. The Aspirus Copperman Triathlon and Duathlon stages at the boat ramp of Fort Wilkins Historic State Park, just east of Copper Harbor, Michigan. Individuals and teams are welcome.
