L’Anse – The Keweenaw Land Trust will host a live music event featuring the band White Water on Saturday, January 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the American Legion in L’Anse.

The event theme is “This Land is Our Land” and will include music and storytelling in celebration of our local landscape.

Admission to the event is $15 per adult or $25 for two adults. Admission for children under 12 is $8. The family-friendly event is a fundraiser for land conservation and stewardship projects in Baraga County.

Small ensembles have been formed to present a collage with a variety of musical styles, all within two 30-minute non-stop music halves with a delightful mix of fun and serious selections.

Marquette – Strings: East & West, an evening concert of stringed instruments, ancient and modern, will be offered on Monday, December 18 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Peter White Public Library.

The special guest performer is Qiao Zhi (Jona) a visiting professor from Aba Teachers University, Sichuan, China, who specializes in Chinese ethnic minority music and plays the *erhu*, a two-stringed Chinese instrument, and the *biwang*, a traditional Tibetan instrument. She will be accompanied by local musician Jeremy Morelock, who performs experimental non-traditional guitar as a solo artist and in ensembles, specializing in East/West collaboration and ambient drone ritual.
