Saturday Morning Yoga – May 12

Gentle Yoga – May 8

Gentle yoga is on the spectrum between seated yoga and yin (restorative) yoga. This is a great gentle exercise class for young or old.

VA to Host Veteran Town Hall in Norway – May 8

Norway, Mi.– Veterans and their families are invited to a Veteran Town Hall, hosted by The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, at the American Legion Hall (621 Main Street, Norway).

The town hall will provide updates on new initiatives and programs as well as providing an opportunity for the VA to listen to feedback.  It is also a great opportunity to learn about VA services and health care for those veterans and families who do not yet take advantage.

Leaders from the VA Medical Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and area County Veteran Service Officers will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA health care and answer any questions/listen to comments and concerns that the veterans might have.

NMU Commencement – May 5

Marquette, Mi.– NMU will host its Spring Commencement in the Superior Dome this Saturday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m.

  • The total of participants in the ceremony will be 825. The ceremony can be viewed live on WNMU-TV or online at nmu.edu/commencement.
  • Guests are allowed a personal item 8.5 x 11 inches or smaller, which may be subject to search.
  • A demonstration area will be reserved in the grassy area between the Superior Dome and Physical Education Instructional Facility (PEIF).

Gov. Rick Snyder will be the keynote speaker.

Alexandra Camarillo-Lugo of Lake Forest, Calif., will serve as the student commencement speaker.

Hayley Kukulis of Marquette will be the soloist, leading the audience in the singing of the national anthem and “Hail Northern,” the alma mater.… Read the rest
