Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser Feb. 16

The American Legion Bantam AA team will have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, February 16 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 44, 770 W. Bluff Street in Marquette. Dinner will be $5 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under. Take-outs will be available. There will also be door prizes and a silent auction. Dance Workshops at NMU Feb. 2

Beginners Dance Workshops will be held on Saturday, February 2 in the conference rooms of the University Center at NMU. Doors open at noon, the Lindy Hop will be featured at noon and 1 p.m., West Coast Swing will be offered at 2 and 3 p.m. and Carolina Shag will be featured at 4 and 5 p.m. There will be a dinner break at 6 p.m. Dancing will begin at 7 p.m. with Superior Swing playing live music from 8 to 11 p.m. No food will be served – bring your own snack and beverage. “Finding and Expressing Our Uniqueness” Class

“Finding and Expressing Our Uniqueness” will be offered by the Marquette Community Schools on Tuesdays, February 5 through 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in room 122 of Marquette Senior High School. Visualization, art and journaling will be used to help expose a person's unique qualities often masked by everyday life. Cost of the class is $25. To register, call 225-5290. Monday Morning Playtime at the Birchview Elementary School in Ishpeming will feature a visit from Clifford, the Big Red Dog on February 4 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the school gym. MI Better Kid Care Free Training Feb. 4

The MI Better Kid Care Program will offer a free training session on biting and sharing for child care providers on Monday, February 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the MSU Extension office in Negaunee. The 2008 YMCA Strong Kids Campaign will kick off on Sunday, February 3 with the Annual Rotary Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gym at the Marquette YMCA. Gwinn E-Girls Basketball Tournament Feb. 22

The Gwinn E-Girls will host their 2nd Annual 3rd through 6th grade basketball tournament beginning on Friday, February 22 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the West Branch Community Center at KI Sawyer. This major fundraiser event will help support the community basketball program. The West Branch Community Center will be available for use all day for a small daily fee.

Barnelopet Ski Event Feb. 16

Barnelopet, a children's cross country ski event, will be held on Saturday, February 16 from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Maasto Hiihto ski trails in Hancock. Registration is open to ages 3 to 13 years old. Parents are encouraged to ski with their children. This non-competitive event, sponsored by the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club, Sons of Norway, and Portage Health, will start at the Chalet.
